CAPE MAY POINT.

— Take our advice and spend your Sundays at the Point. — There were eight Episcopal clergymen hero over Sunday. — Lake Lily is not named amiss, for every day large boquets of choice flowers ore gathered from its waters. — Saturday last brought many pleasure seekers to this lively spot ; we were glad to be among the happy oompany at thp hop, which was more enjoyable than usual. — We have a Bachelor hero who declares that love ta a wretched - buaiueas, consisting of "a Utile singing, a little crying, a little dying, and a great deal of lying." — Saint Louis is tbo banner city at the Centennial ; no less than forty-seven of her citizens registered there. The side glances cast between these lively western folks and our quiet eastern friends is rather amusing, but perhaps before the season closes they will strike the happy medium and meet on the same platform. —Several copies of the Cocxtt Ga* 7.ETTB were handed around the Point last week, and we heard one gentleman say, with a mischievious glance toward the Telegraph office, was this paper given me for the express purpose of hearing me count the Hands. There was a general cry of indignation on Friday evening when the company sitting on the piazza found their glorious sunset greatly obscured by this growing edifice ; but they were quieted by hearing from one in authority that, sooner or later some building would go up on that spot — and the cliureh was certainly preferable to any other. — Sunday was a perfect day, clouds keeping off the intense rays of the sun and making the atmosphere so cool and pleasant that a fan was superfluous all day. The church service* were quietly ei\joyed — a word is not amiss for the Pavilion Choir, led by Mr. Mac Kellar of Philadelphia. He favored us again in the evening in the Sea Grdve parlor, and judging by the attention given Moody and Sankey have not lost their charm. Veritas. 0 ^ fo - 1 1 ■ ^ + •

The Presbyterian Church, of Fairton, propooee to celebrate the one hundreth Anniversary of the Old Stone Church in September. Over sixty trains a day are now running on the fingle track of the West Jersey railroad with the regularity of dock work. The Morris town Jersey man urges the nomination of ex-senator Frederick A. T. Frelinghysen as the Republican Gubernatorial candidate. Dr. Hugh S. Kimmouth, the proprietor and A . L. Thomas, the editor of the Asbury Park Journal, have been sued for libel by James A. Bradley, Esq., the founder of Asbury Pork. The corrected returns of the census shows Woodbury's population to be 2,302 an increase of 837 in ten years. This is a disappointment to the citizens, as it was thought the number would reach 2,600. The election in New Jersey this year will be the moot important ever held, involving the el hp* ess 1 votp for President, a Governor for three years, a United States Senator for six years, seven members of Congress, and a Legislature j which will make the re-apportionment j of the State under the new census. Plans and specifications for an additional reservoir at the water works at I Pa von is, which supply Camden with | water, have been adopted by the Water Committee. The new reservoir is to be built with the $15,000 recently appropriated by Council for the purpose, and 1 will have a capacity of 5,000,000 gallons — 500,000 gallons greater than the one now in use. It has been published that the Cranbeny crop this year would be very large, lhat there would be more than an aver- 1 age. We consulted a number of extensire cranberry growers on this subject, and they all agree that the crop this year will be short — not near the average. One reason given, is that the , plants did not bloom until late, as plants ' that bloom after the first of July never matures, The fact is a large crop of Cranberries this year is not to be expected. — Ocean Co.
