A. J fiUxdmau of MiUvilU is still kept busy banding down goods to thw scares of Cape May county customer* trhti ate after the beat good* at the Lew est price* 4t We met Bro. Rob. Owynno, Jr., in Philadelphia on Thursday, lie is a Democrat from head to foot, and was then on hia way home from the Treutou Convention. An interesting and exciting yacht race came off on Saturday afternoon last between the "Haymow" aud "Harry," the latter winning the 16 mile raoe by one-half minute. Mr. Mitchell Howell, of Dyer's Creek, iuforms us that in hia vicinity -the drouth prevented the setting of lima beans to such au extent that the crop will be less than half the usual one. Mr. Charles Hand left Court House on Monday morning lost* for Beverly, in this State, lfo is suffering with that dread disease consumption, and wo fear will never return to our town. An estimable WW, who is a staunch friend of the O AZtrrfc, will please accept the thanks of the office force for a generous supply of fine concord grapes and excellent pears, sent in on Monday last. A very enjoyable evening was that of Monday last, being the occasion of a surprise party at the home of Miss Addie Benezet. Among those presont were Miss Dickinson of Woodstown, and Miss Crowoll, of Philadelphia. Messrs. Reeves H. Isard, Albert i Chance, and Stephen , together with three charming ladies, left the Camp Ground for Beesley's Point and Ocean City ou Friday. We doubt not they had a very pleasant trip. Since the opening of camp meeting the freight trains hove been well patronized by passengers going to and from the grounds. Their appetites have no doubt been benefited by the shaking up in the "caboose." Mrs. Thos. Ellis has spent the entire summer at Cape May Point, and has been quite a prominent mover in the "Home" there. It is reported that Mr. E. will put up a magnificent cottage there, and it is to be hoped it will prove true. Capt. Davt& Teal, of Rio Grande, was taken with dizziness while upon his wagon on Tuesday night, and fell with his head upon the wheel, receiving injuries from which it is feared he cannot recover, lie* is attended by Dr. John Wiley, than whom a better surgeon is not to bo found in the county.

The inside egg is of the nAtural size and has a very hard shell. Those who doubt this can see it at our office. An interesting law case was tried bofore Justice John Spalding on Monday last ; Wm. B. Holmes, plt'f, v* B. L. Howell and Augustus Howell, deft*, in an action for tresspass. It seems that said Howeils planted a loiu! of oysters upon ground which was afterwords used by Holmes for the same purpose, and when he took them up was sued for tresspass, Holmes claiming that when the oyster* were thrown overboard they became his property. It was testified an the part of plaintiff that when he staked the ground in 1880 the old stakes ivere not up, while a witness for deft, said that the old stakes were up at the time. Frank Hoffman testified that he had given Howell the privilege of using said ground in 1878. George Springer testified that in company with Holmes he visited the ground and saw old stakes in March $0. Gabriel Holmes testified that he took a bag of oysters from the scow of deft., which ho produced and said they were from the pile in dispute. Raid the ice destroyed all stakes in that vicinity in the winter of 78. Also that the oysters were wortli one dollar a bushel lying in the hay, ami that he would take up and cart oysters to Cap* Mav for 25 cents a bushel. That he could distinguish Chesapeake from Hog Inland plants, at a distance. Richard Holmes testified that he saw Howeils taking up the said oysters. That he heard Wm. Ilolmes offer to buy of Howeils the oysters the latter had planted, Hero the plaintiff closed, and deft made a motion for nonsuit. Overruled. Deft, opened with the testimony of B. L. Howell. Said he staked the ground in ?78, still held the ground, never said or intimated that ho relinquished his right to the ground. Mitchell Howell testified that Mr. Hoffman gave himself and son the right of using the beds j also Acquired a clear title from a charter given to the "Oil and Phosphate f V>." giving them control of the ground in question 1000 yards from shore. The jury, After being out one hour-and n-hrilf, rendered a verdict of $16.50 for plaintiff.
