An old weej i ig-wil-low in front of the house which had fttlhrdod cool snd refresh ing shade for man and beast, suffered severely by the heat. We are sorry for tho loss of it. A house may be soon built again but it will take a hundred years to produce such another tree ; and by that time this generation will about be forgotten. The lesson to be learned from this aecident is, keep a 6r© ladder ready and u few buckets at hand. But to moralize a littlo: how slow we are to learn from oxample. It soems that each individual must experience for himself what should bo learned from others. 11. j MILLVILLE NOTES. i j * — Measles and whooping-cough are j very bad in this city. — Mr. John Hoggs, of Port Elizabeth ' is vkrt ill at hi^home. — A new house is going-up on Vine street, near the railroad. — The shop window* already begin to put on their Christmas apparel. — ftr" hindered, pr^no oysevjs in the city at this writing. — 'Robert Bennett, Esq.. is doing n paying business at hi* grocery store on Church street, above Broad.
