The state Division of Fish, Game, and Shelifisheries said today that scaup are more numerous than any time since

1973.

The division's recent waterfowl inventory showed 138,600 scaup in the state’s important wetland and water areas compared with 24,140 last

year.

Raritan Bay, long a scaup gunning favorite, was found to hold great rafts of birds. The Delaware Bay and river are also good-places for scaup. For the special scaup regulations and area refer to the New Jersey Summary of 1978-79 Hunting and Trapping Laws and the Migratory Bird Regulation Supplement.
