Animal Welfare Society Meets Jan. 16th

The Animal Welfare Society of Cape May County will inaugurate its 1979 meetings Tuesday, Jan. 16th at the Social Service Bldg., in Rio Grande at 7:30 P.M. Our guest will be the Cape May County Dog Obedience Club. They will entertain our attendance with a routine of obedience procedures performed by various breeds of dogs. The meeting is open to the public and all animal lovers are invited to attend. Our meetings will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, and the Social Service Bldg, has been selected as a Central point for all Cape May County people to attend. Throughout the year we will present guests from the animal world at our meetings. Please attend and bring a friend along with you. Our aim this year is to pursue daily educational, legal, legislature, and investigative

activities to unearth, expose and end cruelty to all animals. Unlike us, animals cannot speak for themselves. Animals can make the sounds of anguish, joy, love and fear. But in a man’s world these sounds often fall on deaf ears. In one sense it is becoming easier to prevent cruelty to the animals because more and more people are awakening to the idea that other creatures are endowed with rights and feelings too. The Animal Welfare Society believes it is inexcusable to allow cats and dogs to breed indiscriminately. This is why Animal Welfare Society is devoting a tremendous amount of time and energy in educational efforts to acquaint pet owners of their responsibility in promoting spaying and neutering services. We have all kinds of pamphlets at our meetings

available to anyone who attends. This information pertains to care and training of all animals and the method of controlling the animal population. We know as humans what it is to feel pain and to have fear. Animals experience the same feelings and they need our stewardship, our support and our love. And in return we need them, we need them for companionship, protection, and as guides for the blind and deaf. Cape May County residents, please join us as we begin our second season. We want to grow with your help and the help of all animal lovers. We hope to see you the third Tuesday of each month at the Social Service Bldg, in Rio Grande. Circle this date on your calendar. If you have any questions please feel free to call us any afternoon or evening. Ann Crowley, President, 368-5468 or Jean Nissen, Vice President, 465-4563.
