Since President Carter is involved in the so-called peace efforts in the Middle East, and putting his two-cents worth in the latest of the numerous Southeast Asian conflicts, do you think he might just involve himself in any kind of effort in the United States? And speaking of the latest situation in Southeast Asia, isn't this where we came in? *** Since we are so totally dependent on foreign potentates for the oil we use & the price the American consumer pays for it, and since the Shah of Iran is about to be “temporarily” deposed, will we lose the much-needed oil from that country? And if we do, will gasoline prices go up as much as 7 cents a gallon as Mr. Schlesinger of the Department of Energy surmises? It has been 7 years and 3 Presidents since the last alleged "energy crisis" when gasoline prices went sky-high & never really returned to pre-crisis levels. Is it too much to ask when, if ever, will we get an effective Congress & President who will see the urgency of this situation and initiate legislation to relieve the American taxpayer of any additional burden? Or are the big oil companies (who have no desire for any energy legislation that will cost them money) & their friends in Congress just too powerful? *** Is Billy Carter still on the White House list of invites, and if he is, is he going in through the back door? He can't be on the favorite list of Hamilton Jordan or Jody Powell, but he IS the President's brother, you know. *** When is the State of New Jersey going to stop leaning on Resorts International for alleged past ties with unsavory characters? Let’s face it, when BIG money is involved, you HAVE to come across some people who have had brushes with the law. Many politicians can attest to that. If Resorts is denied a permanent license, Atlantic City will go down the drain you can bet on that! The unemployment lines will once again stretch a block long, and 'ol Brendan will have to raise taxes - again!' And how was your week?
