Self Defense for Women Workshop
"What do you do if someone comes up behind you and grabs you? "How do you respond if someone approaches you while you are in a telephone booht? "Suppose a strange man's hand starts creeping up your knee in a movie theater? Senior Girl Scouts and their friends will learn to deal with these situations and others in a "Self Defense for Women Workshop" sponsored by Holly Shores Girl Scout Council on Jan. 27th and 28th. The workshop will be held at Sheppard's Mill Girl Scout Camp near Bridgeton. At the workshop, the girls will learn to think strategically in potentially dangerous situations, and prepare mentally and physically to handle an attacker. Elaine Moyer, who teaches self-defense for women at the University of Pennsylvania, will instruct the girls in physical self-defense and how to get help if they've been hurt. The workshop will also include the film "How to Say 'no' to a Rapist and Survive." The registration fee for the workshop is $10.00 for Scouts and $12.00 for non-scouts. For more information call Marcie Waddington at the Holly Shores Girl Scout Office at 769-0328.
