CCC Offers a Chance to Trace Your Heritage If you are interested in your
roots or would like to learn how to trace your family tree, a new course available this Spring semester at Cumberland County College will appeal to you. Ths course is called “The History of American Immigration." Professor Thomas H. Brown, chairperson of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department
will be the instructor.
Like other credit courses offered during the Spring semester, this class will begin during the week of February 5. You may register for courses now through Jan. 31 at the Records Office on campus. "The History of American Immigration.’ is scheduled to meet in Room 12 from 11:00 to 11:55 on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and frrom 12:00 noon to 12:55 on
Mondays.
Topics covered will include the history of American immigration, old and new immigration trends, policies toward immigrants, and the
contributions made by these groups. According to Professor Brown, “One objective will be to trace the student’s own ethnic heritage. We’ll do a family tree of each individual, discussing all the possible sources of records
for ancestors.’’

School Elections Coming Up By J.P. Cunningham Malcolm B. MacEwan, County Superintendent of Schools, is urging all residents of the county over 18 to make sure they are entitled to vote in the School L.T. REPUBLICAN CLUB The men’s Regular Republican Club will meet at 8:00 P.M. Wed., Feb. 14th, Bayshore & Weber Ave. in the Villas. Guest speaker for the night will be Sheriff Beech Fox. Refreshments.
Elections which will come up on April 3, 1979. Voters must have been registered 30 days before the election, and those not registered can do so at the office of their municipal clerk or at the office of the County Board of Elections. Registered voters who wish to file nominating petitions as candidates for election to Boards of Education must file petitions by Thursday, February 22, 1979. The drawing for positions on the ballot will be held
February 23,1979. The candidate may act as challenger and may also appoint one challenger for each municipal election district. Appointment of challengers shall be filed with the Secretary of the Board of Elections by Thursday, March 29, 1979. This year a change in the election statutes has placed the Regional election on the same day as the other Type 11 district school elections, which is a change from previous years.
C.M.C. NAACP TO HOLD MONTHLY MEETING The NAACP (Cape May County Branch) will hold the regular monthly business meeting plus installation of recently elected officials. Jan. 24th at 8 PM in the Public Meeting Room, Library, C.M.C.H. All members and the public are invited. CARD PARTY SOCIAL There will be a Card Party on Monday, Jan. 29th from 11:30 to 4 P.M. at the Masonic Temple, 6300 Atlantic Ave., Wildwood Crest, given by the Wildwood Chapter No. 118, Order of the Eastern Star. There will be refreshments and prizes. MUMMERS SHOW TRIP There will be a trip to the Mummers Show of Shows. Sat., Mar. 12th. The cost will be $11.50 including bus & admittance to the show. CIVIC CLUB TO MEET The Women's Civic Club will hold its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday. Jan. 23rd. a dutch treat luncheon at Henny’s starting at 12:30 P.M. Mrs. Ramona Wilson, recently appointed new president of the Club, will preside. She will outline plans for the remaining winter months and review the summer special events which the program chairlady has proposed.
