Field Identification of Winter Birds
The Cape May Bird Observatory will offer a field identification course in "Winter Birds of Cape May” at the Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor Boulevard, Middle Twp. The course will run from Jan. 25th to Feb. 24th and consist of 5 Thursday evening slide seminars and 5 Saturday morning field trips. The course will focus upon the field identification, habits and habitat of Cape May’s diverse wintering birds, particularly waterfowl, gulls, owls and winter songbirds. A course fee of $25.00 will be charged to Cape May Bird Observatory members and Wetlands Institute supporters; $35.00 for all others. The additional $10.00 constitutes Cape May Bird Observatory membership. Whatever its hardships, winter is a great time for birding. 146 species were seen on the Cape May Christmas Bird census this year. Many of these birds are seen in Cape May only during the winter months. Registration for the course can be made by calling the Cape May Bird Observatory at 368-3156.
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR support this type of work requirement because it ensures that welfare recipients are treated in a confidential and objective manner. A welfare program without the proper safeguards of due process, or which poses the possibility of political consideration-does not, as the court found, meet the requirements of New Jersey statutes. Thank you for sharing your views with us. Sincerely yours, Ann Klein Commissioner
