Avalon Police Busy

“Although many residents may think that December is a slow time for the men in the Police Department, we've handled a total of 2,196 incidents during that time," said Chief Joseph Foley of Avalon. There were 50 banks checks, five sick assists by police, 191 residential checks and 1,702 business checks, three motor vehicle accidents, four motor vehicle summons issued, three

fires, and 16 warning alarms.

Officen handled 156 minor incidents, made 39 motor vehicle checks, handled 21 reports of damage to property and handled five juveniles within the department. There were no parking violations and a

singular criminal arrest. "In addition to our monthly report we would like to remind all the Borough's Senior Citizens that Operation Teen Shovel can help them to have their driveways and sidewalks cleared by some of the Borough's ambitious teenagers. Although the Borough will not be responsible for the quality of work nor pay, the police department can provide information to interested senior citizens. Teenagers who want to participate are asked to come into the department to register in person, so as not to tie up emergency lines," the Chief said.
