IRS TAX INSTRUCTIONS EASIER TO READ If you are one of those people who has had to fight your way through the tax return instructions each year in order to prepare your federal income tax return, you’ll be pleased to learn that help is at hand. This year’s instructions have been thoroughly revised. using methods recommended by a readability expert. As a result, the instructions are easier to read and contain as little jargon as possible. Some of the changes include shorter sentences, simpler words, and a less cluttered look featuring a format that corresponds line for line with the return. Because information is presented as it can be used by the taxpayer, the need for cross-referencing and flipping back and forth is minimized. Form 1040 users will find that besides a new format for instructions, the form itself is somewhat different in appearance from last year, but the line items are the same.
