Local Civil Air Patrol to Re-Organize
The Cape May County Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol announced that on Wed., Jan. 31st at 7:30 P.M. it will hold a meeting at 3811 New Jersey Ave., Wildwood Community Center to work out the re-organization of the Squadron. Maj. Bernard Chestnut has been appointed the United Commander by Wing Headquarters. He will be working with S/Sgt. M. Johnson, the local Air Force Recruiter, on many different training programs which are available to members of Civil Air Patrol.
Major Chestnut stated that he hopes a number of interested persons will c ome to this meeting. The Squadron will discuss the plans of becoming a specialized unit dealing with radio communications. Mr. Curtis Miller, a local Wildwood resident, also a retired member of the U.S.A.F. will by working with Maj. Chestnut & S/Sgt. Johnson in reorganizing the unit. DENNISVILLE-WOODBINE BLOODMOBILE The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Dennis Twp. Elementary School from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2nd, for the Dennis Woodbine Community Visit. The goal for this year’s bloodmobile is 75 pints. Because of the generosity of those who donate, Red Cross is able to supply all the blood being used at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. The residents of the Dennis-Woodbine area are being asked to help maintain this supply by providing 75 pints of blood. Anyone wishing to make an appointment to donate on Feb. 2nd may do so by calling Mrs. Judy Hunter, Blood Recruitment Chairman, at 263-2223, Mrs. Diane Tomlin, Site Director, at 861-2427, or the Red Cross office at 465-7382. The Cape May Department Public Relations and Recreation is offering beginner Ballroom/Disco course at a rate of $60.00 per couple. The class is being held Tuesdays at Convention Hall from 7:00 P.M. to 9:30 P.M. The course which begins Jan. 16th will continue until March 20th.
