4-H Queen Feted at State Agricultural Convention: Nancy Tomlin, Cape May County 4-H Queen from North Cape May, was among almost 50 County Fair and Agricultural Commodity Queens honored at the Delegates Banquet of the State Agricultural Convention on January 23, in Trenton. Farm Board Sets Venison Dinner

The Cape May County Board of Agriculture announced that its annual Venison Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.pi., Saturday evening, Feb. 17th at the Tuckahoe American Legion Hall, Route 50 in Tuckahoe. This annual event attracts a crowd of approximately 200 farm and rural people. The dinner will be served family style and the entrees feature a choice of either venison or beef. George W. Betts of Petersburg will serve as toastmaster and chairman of the committee. Others on the committee are Harold Shaw of Marmora, Louis DiLuzio of Tuckahoe, Bernard Germanic of Woodbine, and Leslie Rea of Cape May. Betts said that the Venison Dinner has become a rural tradition in Cape May County being held for over 25 consecutive years. He said the main purpose for the d-nner is to honor a county farmer for his

outstanding contributions to agriculture. The name of the award recipient is known only to the committee until the night of the dinner. This year’s program will also feature awards to outstanding 4-H members for achievement in the 4-H Youth program. In addition, the Cape-Atlantic Soil Conservation District will present itr. “Conservation Farmer of the Y^ar” award. County and state legislation are expected to attend along with representation from the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, the New Jersey Farm Bureau, and Cook College at Rutgers University. Those interested in tickets may obtain them from any executive committeeman of the Cape May County Board of Agriculture or from the Cape May County Extension Service Office prior to February 7.

S.H. LIONS CLUB LADIES AUXILIARY

The Stone Harbor Lions Gub Ladies Auxiliary held their first meeting of the new year on Jan. 11, at which time the new slate of officers officiated. They are President Louise Lloyd, First VP. Louise Holland, 2nd VP. Bert Schubert, Recording Secretary Peggy Bourbon, Corresponding Secretary Teddy Vinci, Treasurer Bonnie Anzalone ihd Lion Tamer Kay Wade. The Board of Directors are Past P resident and Parliameritarian Sandee Cramer along with newly elected director Barbara Flacco, Kay Blackledge, Helen Broge and Pat Dou gherty. The auxiliary is an organization dedicated to the support of worthwhile charitable endeavors in the community and in particular the Helen L. Dfller

With this purpose in mind a busy schedule of events is planned for the coming year, with the first one being the Kiddie Kamival on Feb. 17th at the Avalon Community Hall. The membership of the Sea Lions is open to any woman 18 years of age or older.
