Vietnam War Veteran. A few ^eara ago, he might have been a Black kid, joining the Amy to eacape hit ghetto existence. After dl, he would have three meals a day and a place to sleep. Chances are, he didn’t even know where Vietnam even waa! He was sent to Vietnam by his ’Commander-In-Chief not out of patriotism or to make the world safe for democracy hut to protect despotic rulers. He might have been the Black kid who lived next door, who, orders from his Commanding Officer, participated in the Mai Lai Massacre. . He learned to perform his duty to perfection. . When, finally this insanity was resolved, he returned to the country that spawne! him, unloved, unprotected, spat upon • - and called a murderer. He was no returning hero! No job awaited him. No politician came forward to help him. Part of a painful nightmare not of his doing, he's the Forgottm INian - the Vietnam War Veteran. A few years ago, he might have been a well-educated white youth, living in a neat middle-class suburban home. He may have decided to join up because - what the hell, he was going to be drafted anyway - he might as well get it over with. The unholy war was now raging. No senior prom; no Saturday night dating; no hanging around watching the girts go by. A seemingly normal enough teen-age kid, typically American. He might even be that nice hoy next door, who on

Acme Markets, Inc., honored the Middle Township High School Panther Marching Band who recently became the Tournament of Bands 78-79 Chapter I Champions, Group I, by presenting their school with a beautiful 9X12 "championship banner” for permanent school display. Presentation of the banner was madf by Mr. Paulastcrson, manager of the Cape May Court House, Acme during presentation deremony at * the high school and was received by
Drum Major David Conover on behaff of the group’s members and the school. The banner was 'presented under an ongoing Acme program which honors athletic and musical organizations in both public and parochial schools which win state-level (or equivalent) championships. According to Mr. Masterson, the presentatios are one of Acme’s ways of staying thanks to the .communities in« which it operates.
