' offices were closed Tuesday with many county sponsored programs, such as the senior citizens meal program

were canceled.

Late Tuesday it was announced that the Cape May County Grand Jury scheduled to convene Thursday February 22 would be canceled and reconvened February 27. All pfficers having subpoenas served with the February 22 date were ordered to report on February 27 date. And no story of the great blizzard would be complete without mention made of the thousands.of area school children who went without education because of the storm. No area schools were opened Monday or Tuesday and many canceled classes early Tuesday for Wednesday. The scholars turned out en masse to jump in the snow banks and help shovel their parents’ cars from snowy seclusion. Very few students were seen toting shovels looking for jobs shoveling snow.

Everyone who was outdoors shoveling Tuesday reminisced about the other ’bad’ snow storms they had lived through, yes the one in ‘59. yes the one in ‘66 but the one they were in up to their tailbone was the one WE’LL all remember, the Great Blizzard of February 1979.
