“Keep Off” I» The Message Of This Sign In The Midst Of A Flooded Middle Township Field

Last week, it was a blizzard that sent Cape May County reeling. Then this week, melting snow and high winds converged at just the right time in the Lunar month to add woe to woe: floodwaters rose, and with them further threat of widespread damage and inconvenience in Cape May County. Fortunately, the mostdeleteriouseffects of the flooding were more localized than’those caused by the snows of the week ^ before. But still: the South Cape May dune was j breached, allowing waters to pour in and engulf Sunset Boulevard, the main traffic artery into Cape { May Point; Av^pn police were calling Dune Drive businesspeople W3 a.m. Monday morning warning them of anticipated high tides and store flooding (which, mercifully, did not widely materialize); Cape May’s “Frog Hollow” suffered its not uncommon high tide flooding, with parts of the area under water most of the day Monday; and portions of county roads in Middle Township looked more like highseas than highways. Alas, such is seashore life.
