Mulligan Collegians

Mulligan's Collegians, representing "The Inn” in the Villas, continued on their winning ways by defeating the Guardsmen of the Townsend’s Infat Station by a score of 96-86. It was firehouse basketball all the wtey. And the Collegians prevailed because of their strong bench, while the Coast Guard had to pfay with their original starters. Mike (Mentor) Couront washigh man for the Collegian's with 40 points. He may even have broken the scoring record for this gym by pouring in 20 baskets, ifab Holt had 16 points, and Jk>e ifimbo. a new’*addition to The team, had 14. Denny Anderson besides being a tower of strength on defense, showed that he can also score if necessary, by scoring 10. Frank

Vogel had 8 points and rebounded well. Billy Mulligan showed that he is more than just a sponsor by scoring 4 points himself. Pete Holt wasn’t "Dead-eye” this time and had to settle for 4 points. The Collegian's record is now 4-1 and are still looking for games in outlying districts. Ineligible Player •Gives Middle Win In basketball, Delran eliminated Middle Township last Thursday from the State tournament but Delran had an ineligible player in the game. Middle has been declared the winner. Middle will now play Pleasantville at Pleasantville this Thursday,“March 8th.

The Lady Panthers of Middle Township High School kept alive th<?ir chances in the state tournament by overpowering the I^ady Caper Tibers of Lower Cape May High School, and defeating them for the third time this season by a score of 53-37. Sue McKinley led the scoring witk 16 points while Laurie Budd had 14 while grabbing 17 rebounds. Beata Poalig had 14 points for I^wer Cape May. with Sherri Hickok getting 10 and Debbie

Cook, 8.

Middle's record now Stands at 18-4 and they have a game with Pleasantville coming up next. Although the end of the season was a disappointment when they were blown off the court by Ocean City and then lost to Pleasantville, the future looks rosy for the Lady Panthers with practically the whole squad returning to gladden “Big Bill” Penman's heart.
