SWAINTON. N J. - The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority on March 7 awarded a SU million contract for the construction of pumping stations in the Ocean City Region to Carl E. Widell & Son of Haddonfield. The MUA first voted to reject the apparent low bidder. Feriozzi Concrete Company of Ventnor based upofi discovered deficiencies. errors and omissions that were not in compliance with the bidding requirements. The review committee recommended to the authority to reject the' L. Feriozzi bid and accept the bid of the second low bidder. Carl E. Widell & Son. The first construction project by the MUA. the site preparation of a one million dollar task of excavating and refilling ran abandoned landfill at -Htth Street and West Avenue in Ocean City is now complete and ready for the construction of the wastewater treatment plant. Cape May Court House, N.J.... Henry M. Peddle was reelected President of the Board of Governors of the Burdette Tomlin Hospital at the annual Board meeting. Also returned to the board were George E. Dafy of Townsend Inlet, Daniel Lynch of Middle Township and Thomas Brodesser of Lower Township. Mr. Peddle noted in his annual report that the hospital census during 1978 was up 6 percent over 1977 with a 90 percent census. Eleven physicians have joined the hospital during the last year to help care for the residents of Cape May County. Mr. William H. Waldron, III Administrator reported that Phase III renovation and construction would begin within the week to . provide a new laboratory, new cafeteria, new kitchen and renovations to pediatrics and maternity. The parking lot has been nearly completed and renovations have been made in several nursing areas to improve appearances and services.
During the 1978 year a number of major donations were received from the estates of Dr. Millard Cryder, Marion Schaefer, Stephen W. Meader and Helen Kay as well as from various County wide organizations. He
