Mayor Ellsworth Armacost of Avalon has filed his petition for re-election in the coming May 8 election.

AVALON, — Avalon Borough Clerk, Virginia Oldr has announced that the Borough Clerk's office in the Borough Hall, Avalon, will be open for evening

registration.

This is a convenience offdfed by the borough for residents who may wish to register to vote in the Municipal election to be held on

May 8th.

The evening registration dates and hours are as follows: Monday, April 2,6 - 9 P.M. Tuesday, April3,6-9P.M.

Wednesday, April 4.6 - 9 P.M. Thursday. April 5.6 - 9 P. M. Friday, April 6,6 - 9^.M. and Monday. April 9,4 - 9 P.M. Residents may also register at the Borough Clerk's office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. The clerk's office is located to the left as you enter the front door of the Borough Hall and Dune Drive.

Ted Davies Studying in Ireland Theodore J. Davies, of Avalon a student of the University of Scranton, Scranton, Pa., was accepted into the junior year in Ireland Program, sponsored by the University of Det-oit. Students are selected on the basis of academic achievement and personal recommendations. Only twenty are accepted yearly, and come from all parts of the country. They are now attending University College, a part of the National University of Ireland, in Cork City, County Cork. Along with their academic program, the group also traveled extensively in Europe over the holidays, visiting nine countries, including Yugoslavia. Ted, a Psychology Major, is also studying Archeology, and the History of Ireland. He returns to Avalon, in June, where he resides with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S. Davies for the summer months. Garden Club of Stone Harbor The April 9 meeting of the Garden Club of Stone Harbor will be held at the Firehouse at 10 a.m. Mrs. J. Kenton Eisenbrey will discuss "Gardening Under Lights." Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served. IJuman Services Coalition To Meet The regular monthly meeting of the Human Services Coalition will be held Thursday, April 5, at 1:30p.m. in the Conference Room of the Social Services Building in Rk> Grand. The public is cordially invited to attend.

Glazier Is An Avalon Candidate Jeannette L. Glazier has announced she is a candidate for Avalon Councilperson-at-largc. She is a graduate of Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, and also attended evening classes after graduating from college. She completed a three year Office Practice course in two years. During the war Mrs. Glazier worked in a defense plant as a private secretary. After the war. she taught for many years in the Private and Public School Systems of Philadelphia. Some of her art work has been exhibited in that city. / "Jean" has been involved in raising funds for many civic, charitable and educational organizations. She has served on the executive board of Boy Scouts of America. Somerton Youth Organization. Somerton Athletic Club, and Somerton Civic Organization. Mrs. Glazier is past president of Mothers Club B.S.A.. and Jflrdel Women’s Club of Philadelphia. At the present time she is president of the Upper Cape Chapter of Deborah. As chairperson of the Deborah Walkathon for the past two years, she was successful in leading the effort that raised approximately

$5,000.

She first came to Avalon 25 years ago as a summer resident. She and her husband purchased a home here 15 years ago. She has two grown sons and three small grandchildren. She is an active member of the Avalon Garden Club and the Women's Civic Club of Avalon.
