New Community Club

Sixteen women of Cape May County met at a luncheon on March 31,1979, at Mulford House in Corbin City, to establish a coipmunity service club. This organization, composed of women from Swainton, Woodbine, Wildwood, Cape May and West Cape May, known as "The Gems", plans to devote its efforts toward charitable aid within these communities. At this organization meeting a tentative policy of aid to worthy causes in the County was adopted

and the following Officers and Directors were elected: Mrs. Ella Foster, President; Mrs. Lillian Lee, Vice-President; Mrs. Hattie Carter, Secretary; Mrs. Aleise Berry. Treasurer; Mrs. Frances Phelps, Business Manager; Mrs. Catherine Lawson, Chaplain; Mrs. Sadie Josie, Historian; Mrs. Anita Ross, Sunshine Club; Mrs. Helen Brown, Publicity. Another meeting is planned for Saturday, May 19. in Woodbine

man for the Residential Crusade is Mrs. Dolly Markowitz of Green Creek. Mrs. Markowitz is the mother of four daughters, one who has leukemia. She is employed by the Marine National Bank in Wildwood and has ^een actively serving the Cape May County Unit of the American Cancer Society for four years. Remember the 1979 Cancer Crusade begins in April - “YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE” Volunteer to help and support the Crusade with your gift. Agents Establish Scholarship because of their specialized training in insurance. It was felt by the Cape May County Insurance Agents that the scholarship would provide an incentive to a worthy student to pursue a career in inshrance. Local high school guidance counselors have been requested to provide recommendations to a scholarship committee of the Agents Association.

The Independent Insurance Agents Association of Cape May County has established a $500.00 scholarship to be awarded annually to a high school senior from Cape May County Who desires to pursue a career in insurance by enrolling at the College of Insurance in New York City. The College of Insurance is a fully accredited 4 year institution located in New York’s financial district offering Bachelors and Master's degrees with an insurance major. Graduates of the College are highly sought after by the -unsurance industry
