The Middle Township Optimist Club recently sponsored an Oratorical Contest at the Middle Township Diner, attended by participating students, their parents, guests and club members. Brenda Yocum, winner of the contest, delivered an outstanding oration on the subject "In. My Youth I See", she received a prize of a $50. Savings Bond. Certificates winners were Vicki Counties. Bill Rio Grande Fire Co. Held Dinner-Dance The 52nd anniversary dinner-dance of the Rio Grande Fire Co. & Ladies Aux. was held March 27 in their new hall. Participating in the evening s events were Mary Cresse. president of the ladies auxiliary: President Porch. Roy Hess. Gary Rudy. Chief William A Belles. Jr., and Robert Mollenkof. Various badges and pins were awarded.
Darling. Angela Johnson and Letitia Parks. Judges in the contest were Jay Pierpont. Kosalyn Sponaugle and Donald Charles. The students were coached by John Sowa and Judith Jenkins. Middle Township High School English Teachers.
Car Pool Program Discussed
Al Zurawski. coordinator of Sea Ifle’s car-pooling program, will meet with representatives of various groups sometime this month to discuss the new service. Invited to attend the meeting are members of the Chamber of Commerce. Rotary Club, senior citizen groups. Knights of Columbus officers as well as all interested citizens. No date was set as of press time.
