Jeanne Peckiconis, Beatta Pnhlig and Keith Richards beat back the Orkans with great defense at the net. (Jeorge Rague and Toots Fitzpatrick forged a first game victory for the Orkans with explosive serving. Kiwanis Softball The Kiwanis Klouters of Court House posted their first win of the season when they defeated the Dennisville Dreadnaughts 9-6 on Sunday at the Boyd St. Complex. Bob Wilson, pitching for the first time in two years, posted the win for Kiwanis with Tanner being the losing pitcher. Although the Dreadnaughts made 11 hits in the game, they were unable to stage a big rally, and their defense left something to be desired. Walt Turnier, playing in right field pulled off the defensive gem of the game when he caught a fly and then threw out the runner trying to advance from second to third after the catch Steady Joey Trombetta had five putouts in center, retiring the side in the seventh inning with three great catches. For Dennisville, John Rich was the batting star of the game going four for lour with a home run and two doubles. Joey Horton had twmfor three. For Kiwanis. Joey Trombetta had two for three, and the other five hits were scattered amongst Dave May. Gil Sinkway. Bill Balleitte and Nick Elisano. Billy Adams covered shortstop like a tent, and the outfield grabbed everything hit their way. Next week Kiwanis hoped to take on the team from Fred's Tavern in Stone Harbor. They have several of the Palmer Chevrolet on their team and should be able to handle the Kiwanis who have trouble fielding their lull team. Coed Volleyball CAPE MAY - Coed Volleyball - C.J.R. and Co. defeated Cape May Athletic Club 15-10, 15-13, 14-16 on the final day of the season last Sunday to eek out the league title over the Cape Islanders and the Atietic Club. Chuck Matthews and Carol Vandergrift were outstanding defensives for the Champs. On the losing side, Debbie Brown and Lou Dwyer kept the A.C. in contention the entire match and eventually snared the third game. The Orkans whipped Eastern Auto 15-6.15-10,15-10 by virtue of the serving of Bill Fitzpatrick. Sharon and Steve Todd kept Eastern's engine running once again in a match closer than score indicates. The Stumblers crushed JINS 15-3. 15-8,^5-7 with an awesome serving onslaught by Sue Brett, Rick Swain and Dave Piacentine. Patty Martin and Carol Griffin sparked a fine defensive effort by the JINS. The Cape Islanders served up second place by outsetting, out-spiking and out-defensing Exx in an exceptionally skillful contest. Merc Baumann, Sharon Mericle and Ted Ferrante sealed the fate of Exx with numerous saves. Mark Pomykacz nearly pulled out a victory for Exx in game one with his serving.

WEST TRENTON-Two Cape May County patrolmen recently completed the N.J. State Police's 80th Class on Criminal Investigation for municipal police officers. The program was held at the State Police Training Center in Sea Girt. The class joins municipal police officers from throughout the state in an eight-day resident course oi uniform instruction combining academic and practical approaches to the contemporary problems of crime in New Jersey. Training included in j struction in burglary investigation. auto theft, sex crimes, homicide, bank robbery, kidnapping, bombing, fraud and illegal gambling enterprises. Investigative techniques .were covered in such areas as preservation and recording of the crime scene, identification.

Crusaders Blitz L.T. CAPE MAY - Soccer • The Cape May Crusaders Soccer Team blitzed Lower Township No. 2 9-2 in a onesided County Soccer League contest. Leading the crusade over Lower were Bill Mendo (3 goals). Bob Owens (3 goals). Scott Nash (1 goal). Don Tanguay (1 goal), and JoeGlazer (1 goal). With the victory the Crusaders* upped their record to 2 and 1. They take the field next May 5 against the Dennisville Gladiators on Cape May’s Lafavette Street field. Game time is noon.
