CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE - The 1979 Spring Golf Tournament sponsored by the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce will be held May 23 at the Stone Harbor

Club.

The tournament will begin with a “shotgun start* at 9 a.m. An awards luncheon will follow the round of golf. Chairman for this year's Spring Open will be Chamber member. Dick Longstreet. Registration forms have been sent to all Chamber members and must be filled out and returned to the Chamber office on the Garden State Parkway at Crest Haven Road. Cape May Court House. Stewart Gray, newly elected Director was welcomed to the administrative body. Re-elected officers were Albert Stutzke. Pres.. Frank Holberg. Vice. Pres.. George C. Miller. HI. Sec'y. George Scattergood. Treas. In addition to the 12 Directors. the Shareholders voted to reappoint Joseph Zampino as General Counsel, and Tracey and Heun C.P.A.’s as auditors for the Club.

Middle Sweeps Sacred Heart

By John Williams On May 1. Middle Township traveled to Vineland for a league match with Sacred Heart. Middle Township nearly had a clean sweep as they defeated Sacred Heart 4-1. Dan Hicks took first singles easily defeating Bill Ring 60. 6-2. Mark Tice fought off tough Nick Bencie for a 6-4. 7-6 victory. Ronald Gabriel handily defeated third singles player Tony Mancini 6^3.6-0. In the first doubles, twin brother Robert Gabriel teamed up with partner Lance Harrison for a 7-5.6-7.6-2 victory over a lobbing doubles team of Jay Sorantino and Bob Robertson. Middle's only defeat came in another three Set. match Wayne Roper afQ Doug Penkethman were defeated by Henry Hams and Bob Rignala 4-6. 6-2. 36. On April 10. Middle Township and Hammonton began their season* with Middle Jownshipekeing out a 3-2 victory. The rematch came last Thursday when Hammonton descended on Middle determined to even the score. The Panthers were ready and more determined to show their superiority for a seqond time.
