Spring Dinner
COURT HOUSE The Spring Dinner Meeting qf the Cape May County Historical Society will be held Thursday. May 17 at the Golden Eagle Motel. Beach Dr . Cape May. and C all members and friends fra re urged to make Reservations immediately at the Museum. Rt 9. Cape May Court House, by May H Dinner will be served promptly at 7 p.m. The speaker for the evening will be Dr. Albert E .Wood of Cape May Court House, internationally known educator, writer, scientist and lecturer. He will speak on the subject “Fifty Years Shell Collecting on Seven Mile Beach." show slides and respond to questions. Dr. Wood, a native of this area, was educated at Princeton and Columbia Universities and is an outstanding authority in the field of vertebrate paleontology. Attached to the Army Engineers as a Geologist, he taught later at Amherst College, and was a visiting professor of Paleontology at the University of Southern
California. Berkeley. From 1941-46 he served in the U.S. Army advancing in rank from Captain to Lt. Colonel and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He is. at the present time, a Colonel in the Army Reserve, Retired. A member of several outstanding scientific societies and Phi Beta Kappa, he has contributed articles to various scientific and educational publications, encyclopedia, etc. Dr. Wood is included in “American Men and Women in Science" and "Who’s Who." Cost of the dinner is $10 per person and those making reservations should indicate a choice of entree — either roast turkey or deviled crab. The spring meeting is one of a series of events planned by the trustees during the year which is open to the public. Tours ol the mpseum are available Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. and additional events through the summer and fall will be scheduled for members and friends.
