Cape Officer Completes Course ' First Annual

TRENTON + A Cape May police officer recently completed a class on juvenile justice training for municipal police officers conducted ax the State Police Training Center in Sea Girt from May 7 to 11. DSG Robert Boyd attended the program, developed by the State Police in cooperation with the N.J. State Association of Chiefs of Police and the N.J. State Juvenile Aid Officers Association. The program is funded by a federal grant made available through the State Law Enforcement Planning Agency (SLEPA).

Colonel Pagano said that the five-day resident personnel in dealing with the ever growing problem of juvenile delinquency. Included in this curriculum are: details of law enforcements legal role, the history and philosophy of juvenile delinquency, theories of delinquency causation, therapeutic and corrective services, and neglected and abused children. In addition, the students participate in therapy group sessions with known delinquents in an attempt to further understand the nature and causes of delinquency.

"Buddy Poppy"

Chrmn.: Percy Farmer. Scouting and Youth Activities: James H. Matthews. Community Activities. Americanism & Beauty Pageant Chrmn.; and Lester Bieberbach. Safety Program Chrmn. Outgoing Commander Lorenzo presented meritorious and distinguished service certificates to various officers. Commander-elect > Palmguard presented to Theresa Tozer. in behalf Of Peterson-Little VFW Post 386. a $50 savings bond and a Voice of Democracy achievement certificate for winning the Post contest. Terri also won the I7th District Voice of Democracy contest. Past (PAST) District Commander Harold Eckbold presented Terri a $100 savings bond, a small flag set and several other gifts from the VFW. state department of N.J. A full course turkey dinner was prepared by the Ladies' Auxiliary of Peterson-Little Post 386. Louise Garrison was reinstalled as President of •he 17th District VFW Ladies' Auxiliary.
