Avalon Plans for Memorial Day
AVALON —- A puade and special memorial services are planned to honor our war dead on Memorial Day, May 28 announced Avalon Mayor Ellsworth Armacost. The parade will form at 32nd and Dune Drive, in front of Borough Hall at 8:30 ajn. and at 9 a.m. will progress down Dune Drive to the Circle at 21st Street for services. * All local community groups have received notices inviting them to join In the events. Groups planning to participate include:.^valon Police and Volunteer Fire Departments, The Avalon Chamber of Commerce, the Seven Mile Beach Democratic q U b; Tj,e Garden Club of Avalon, Girl Scout Troop. Victorian Fair Approaches
CAPE MAY • Stained glass, gem stones, white elephant, tin types, and crafts are a few of the items that will be on sale at Cape May’s Victorian Fair, Saturday, May 26. This traditional spring event will be held on the grounds of the Emlen Physick Estate at 1048 Washington Street from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Various area organizations and individuals will be running attractions for their own benefit. Seniors Elect Officers STONE HARBOR — A new slate of officers was elected by the Seniors at the May business meeting. Official duties will begin in September for a two-year term. The election was held in May because the group does not meet weekly during the summer months. Tlieir only activity during June, July, and August is a monthly covered dish supper in the county park. The new president of the grmip succeeding Vemis Pilert will be Louise Prager, the second woman to be president in the past nine years. First vice-president is Mrs. Gerald Stump; 2nd vicepresident, Ray deLaurentis; treasurer, Mrs. Elizabeth Chain; Secretary, Miss Eileen Connor. In other business Mrs. Pilert announced the Seniors would participate in the Memorial Day celebration by donating a wreath in hortor of theeir war dead. She also asked for volunteers to assist women civic club president Mrs. Ramona Wilson on the first annual Multiple Sclerosis Round-Up duryjg t|ie Memorial Day weekend. *

CAPE MAY - Due to increased traffic, two round trips a day will be added to the Cape May-Lewes Ferry schedule on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays the weekend of May 18. The Ferry will depart Cape May, at 7:30, 9:30 and 11 a.m. and 1, 3 and 6:30 p.m. From Lewes, the Ferry makes voyages at 9:30 at 11:30 a.m. and 1, 3, 5 and 8:30 p.m. Beginning Friday. May 24 through Friday, June 28, this schedule will be in
effect seven days a w#ek. Six additional round trips will be added to the schedule June 29 through September 3.
