Spring Fling Well Attended Cape herald - General AVALON - Over 300 Avalon residents enjoyed a relaxing Saturday evening at the Borough Community Hall May 12 at the annual Spring Fling under the auspices of the Avalon Recreation Department. The Saturday evening dances, held several times throughout the year are a cordial way for residents of the Bogough to get together and enjoy themselves. There was dancing to the music of the Clifk Kollmeier Band and the music ranged from Benny Goodman to Broadway show tunes. "I know I speak for the other members of the Borough Commission when I say that we are certainly glad to see so many residents taking part in these dances for adults.” Said Mayor Ellsworth Armacost. "The dances are good for the people here where they get together and simply have a good time, and that's saying quite a lot nowadays." said the Mayor. Jack Sykes, winter recreation director has coordinated these Saturday evening dances so that the Community Hall is decorated in a different motif each time. In the meantime, however. Avalon plans a long list of summer reasons to enjoy the recreational program here in Avalon. These events include races, lifeguard tryouts and of course the Avalon Baby Parade which is scheduled for August 18.
