County Track Meet A Success

The Cape May County Track Meet was held at Middle TwpV Memorial Field last Saturday despite intermittent rain and an invasion by gnats. Starting in a light rain at 10:30a.m., it ran until 3:30p.m. Joe Haberkerft of Middle Twp., was Director of the meet and ran the events like clockwork. He was assisted ' in distributing medals by Barry Wilkie, of the .Middle Twp. ftec. Commission Mike Bobs of Somers Point, was the official starter and the events were conducted by numerous coaches and officials.

Batting stars for Kiwanis were Big Dftn Rhinesmith with a homer, double and single in four trips to the plate: Tom Poponak with 2 for 3 for a .667 average. Donny Rhinesmith also with a .667 average and Billy Adams with 2 for 4 for .500 average. For the Phillies it was Scott and St. John with 3 for 4 for .750 average. Rushworth and King with 2 for 4 for .500. In the second game (He Kiwanians clubbed Jamesway by a score of 165. Big Don Rhinesmith led the hitters with -t for 4: while Gil Sinkway had 3 for 3 and Donny Rhinesmith 2 for 2. Billy went 3 for 4. For Jamesway Jeff had 4 straight hits, with Bill going 3 for 4 and McNulty 2 for T. The game started at 6:30 p.m. and before 2 innings were played, the weather was as cold as a football game and several Kiwanis wives and children shivered till the end of the game.
