Since the Millville American Band was formed in 1930 by a one-time member of the great Sousa Band, the late Arthur Laschke, it has been named state champion on an average of every other year. It is now the oldest active Legion Band in New Jersey. Sunday’s Concert in the Park by the Nabb-Leslie Band will be free and open to the general public, as are all activities and programs at the County Park. The entire family will enjoy a day at the park. There are nature trails, courts and frde equipment for many sports, picnic tables and grilles, the children's zoo, a nature center, and there is plenty of free parking right on the park grounds. Visitors are reminded to bring their own seating for the concert. The Cape May County Park is open from 9a.m. to dark, daily. It is located on Route 9, Shore Rd., just a mile north of the Stone Harbor Boulevard traffic

Watch Out for Turtles AVALON - As the spring sun gently evicts the terrapin turtles from their winter wetland hideaways Avalon Boulevard and Ocean Drive becomes jammed with these slow moving creatures seeking highground on which to lay their eggs The residents of Avalon have a strong feeling for these turtles that share their summer vacationland, and at this time of year Avalon residents make a concerted effort to try to save the turtle from mass extinction. The Borough of Avalon, in cooperation with the Avalon Women's Civic Club will place signs along the roadside warning drivers to “watch out for the turtles" to save these curious creatures from a fate beneath the wheels of a two ton automobile. Bumper stiSkers warning unknowing motorists of these turtles are in circulation m the Borough. Avalon s efforts to save the turtles are supported by many environmentalists who have studied this unique creature that could soon face extinction with the assistance of unthinking, people.
