MARGARET HILL. Innkeeper of the (Wildwood Crest) Holiday Inn who was recently appointed a director of the N.J. Hotel Motel Association. Her appointment gives the W'ildwoods an important voice in this state association. Hill on Hotel-Motel Board
WILDWOOD CREST - Margate! Hill. Innkeeper of the Holiday Inn located at Atlantic and Jefferson Avenue, here was recently appointed a director of the New Jersey Hotel-Motel Association The appointment was made at a meeting in Mount Laurel of the Associations Doard of Directors, held May 17. By her appointment the W’ildwoods area now has representation in this state organization. One of her present goals is to try to get more local hotel and motel owners to become members of the Association. This increased membership will give the Association more powerful lobbying in Trenton as well as more chance to block unfavorable legislation that could prove harmful to the overall Tourist Industry. Tourism, is the second largest industry in the state according to Ms. Hill,, and it has less lobbyists in Trenton than the number one industry which, she
says is petroleum. She cited several instances in whcih legislation could have proved harmful to the hospitality and tourism industry—one being a tax levied per parking space in each motel, the other being the setting of May 30 as Memorial Day. which would have totally eliminated the first big three day holiday of the summer season. These things and many more, are the kinds of things that N.J. Hotel Motel Association keeps an eagle eye on. so that afi may benefit. “We all need to band together to save the (hotelmotel) industry and for this reason I hope that more and more local Wjldwood area owners will join this Association \vhich is designed to help them out", she stated One of the chief aims of the industrial organization is to protect the tourism industry so that it remains a profitable investment for everyone.
