Everlon Fabrics took a pair last week with muchimproved play. They whipped Coast Guard Electronics 8-4 and Tolz Realtors 16-4. Kona Sports bombed Everlon Fabrics 16-1 via the long ball. Bayshore Lounge nipped Tolz Realtors in a see-saw battle 10-7 with some clutch hitting. Rick's of Rio Grande split a pair of tough games, behind Herb Hudson's 4 for 4 at the plate and Robert Matthews defense, Rick's held off Palmer Chevrolet. 7-S. In their next encounter. Mayer's Bar squeezed by Rick's with a run in the bottom of the seventh with two out to triumph 2-1. A strong-swirling, wind turned the game into a defeasive struggle. Glenn

Middle Twp. High School will have another Thompson on the basketball team, but this Thompson is on.the distaff side and will play for the Lady Panthers of Bill Penman. Her name is Veronica and she is the sister of Rewi Thompson, the hoy from New Zealand who became the mainstay of Chick Ludman's varsity team. Ronnie is 16yrs, old 5'4" guard who is said to be a good shooter, and excellent on defense. Like her brother she will be coming as an exchange and according to Rewi she is better among the girls than he is among the boys. Time will tell! In the State Championship track meet. Arlene Adens of Middle Twp finished 4th in the group II 440yd. run. Debbie Holden of Ocean City was 4th in the Group ill mile run. The Wildwood High quarter mile relay team finished third in Group I relay. Middles girls track team finished the season with a 6-1 record, losing only to Ocean City in their opening meet. At the Sports Banquet of Middle Twp. to be held in the high school gym on Friday night, an innovation

will '

be the awarding of play there also.

Pennycook and Mike Stanbach went 2 for 3 to pace Mayer’s. - Law's Printing escaped the Coast Guard Bears with an 8-5 verdict to continue what has been a long May for the Bears. P & K Associates then, in a completely different type of ballgame outslugged the Coast Guard Bears 23-22 as Chris Kelly slid home with the game-winner in the seventh inning. Chris Kelly went 5 for 5 with 5 RBI's.

trophy to the outstanding girl athlete of Middle High School. It is given by the Douglass family in memory of Charlie Douglass, a great supporter of Middle's sports program. Th$ Douglass trophy has always gone to the outstanding male athlete at Middle but this year the girl’s counterpart will also be honored. This is very fitting because Charlie had three daughters. Judy, Bonnie and Melissa. The Old Sport can remember back in the fifties, when he and Charlie coached a midget football team, the forerunner of the present day Middle Twp. Knights. The team needed a set of new jerseys and not having a sponsor, Charlie dug into his own pocket to buy them. Charlie was like

that.

With the opening of the Stone Harbor Slo-Pitch League, it is too bad that they cfon’t have a decent softball diamond to play on. Two loads of fill were dumped on, the field but the fill contained not only dirt, but also stones, wood, and broken bottles. Could be an unfortunate accident there some day. expecially since the Little League teams
