M OPEN LETTER
Dear Voter: On June 12th, you will have the opportunity to elect a Mayor. Now is the time for a change. A new council deserves a new Mayor. It is necessary to have harmony in our local government and it certainly has been missing in the past four years. Why are the past Commissioners and a present Commissioner for Owen Quinn? VOTERS THINK!! In a recent letter to a newspaper, former Commissioner and Mayor, W. Daniel Keen stated, "I urge the voters to elect Owen Quinn for Mayor. Owen has stepped into office at a difficult time and has showed leadership and the ability to respond to community problems.- The past four years have been chaotic* We witnessed crisis government; disregard of advisory boards and committees, imprudent spending of our money; wasted tax dollars due to poor administrative abilities; severe lack of project planning..This must not continue." Commissioner Peddle, in a letter sent to the voters, stated: 'When the snow storm hit and both Mayor Armacost and I were in Florida, Commissioner Quinrt organized the clean up, including bringing in plows from out of town; a difficult task a| that time. Again two weeks later, vMien Civil Defense announced a storm alert, Commissioner Quinn and his police department reacted quickly to evacuate the low areas, bringing the people to the school for required housing. Comqnissioner Quinn has performed his task in a quiet firm manner and has proven to me his ability to serve as Mayor. I support him." Is this a man who lacks experience? VOTERS THINK!!
Why do so many business people back Owen Quinn? VOTERS THINK!! We don't need an experienced politician for Mayor. We need a thinking positive concerned man who knows all of Avalon as Owen Quinn does. He wants to work for YOU not as a politician but because he cares for all of Avalon, including "Sea Gate". Here are just a few of the things Owen Quinn would like to do: —Owen believes that the taxpayer can be saved many thousands of dollars per year through the purchase of two trash compactors for trash collection and two hydraulic plows for snow removal in the winfer. Borough employees could and woOld operate this equipment. —Owen believes that by appointing one man to check trash violations and dogs running loose we can control littering of our streets. —Owen believes that a list of summer positions should be posted in Borough Hall in January. This would give our residents the opportunity to apply first. —Owen believes that there should be a supervised scheduling of dredging and maintenance of waterways and public docks. Owen has a plan for control of NOISY group rentals. —Owen believes that in cooperation with the Women's Civic Club, Avalon Garden Club, and the Chamber of Commerce that the General Bell Causeway and other designated areas could be beautified by the planting of small trees and shrubs. —Owen believes in a well rounded recreation program for all ages. Voters, you have an interest in Avalon and its future as a family place. PROTECTyour future and your investment. Vote on June 12th.
