Schad Installed At Maris Stella
AVALON - Nearly 500 persons attended a .Sunday afternoon Mass celebrated for the installation of the Most ReverendirAamre .Lio Schad. D.D., V.G. as Pastor *)f Maris Stella Church here. The Pastor was installed by Most Reverend George • H. Guilfoyle D.D., J.D. Bishop of Hie Camden Diocese. Bishop Schad requested his assignment as Pastor of the Avalon Roman Catholic Church from St. Rose of Lima parish in Haddon Heights. Bishop Sthad will continue as Auxiliary Bishop. Vicar General and Consultor for the Diocese, according to a letter signed by Bishop Guilfoyle dated May 18. Following the Mass, a reception in Bishop Schad's honor was held at the Avalon Community Hall, 30th Street and the Beach at which time Avalon Mayor Ellsworth Armacost and many local people had a chance to welcome the new Pastor. "On behalf of all the people of Avalon, I extend a warm and friendly welcome to Bishop Schad as Pastor of Maris Stella Church here. I hope that he will enjoy a long and
healthy residence here and that all his efforts may be truly blessed," said Mayor Armacost. "One of my first goals will be to determine the needs of the people In the Parish by issuing a “Needs Questionaire" the Bishop said. "I want to re-organize the Parish CounciL to reemphasize the importance of the Laity (the non-clerics of the Church)" Bishop Schad continued. "I expect them to be advisory people and not decision makers. After all, any pastor who doesn’t listen to his Laity will be in trouble", the Bishop continued. "I also expect to embark on a pastoral visitation program to get to

Sunday School is also held at 11 a.m. » An 8 p.m. Wednesday service is held each week from June through September in which testimonies of Christian Science healing are presented.
