Golden Eagle Band At Park
COURT HOUSE - What began as a summer tieover from one school year to another, with practices in the parking lot and a few parades, for a few Rancocas Valley Regional High ' School musicians in 1970, has grown into one of South Jersey's most active community bands performing over thirty engagements per year in parades, concerts and professional sporting events. In 1972 the Golden Eagle Band became a year-round venture, designed to play the music that the public wants to hear. The repertoire is filled with the familiar tunes of Mancini and Manilow, the marches of Sousa, the sounds of Broadway and Hollywood and the Big Band swing of Miller and Goodman; music of the young, the old; and everyone in-between. Then there is the Brass Choir, the German Band, the Dixieland Combo. The forty-member Golden Eagle Band will be perfroming a Sunday afternoon "Concert in the Park" on July 8 at Cape May County Park, at 3 p.rri.
A combination of amateur adult musicians and selected student musicians from area high schools, the Golden Eagle Band has never placed lower than fourth in com-petition-such competitions as Trenton State Fair and New York City Salute to Israel Day Parade. The Golden Eagle Band concert will be preceded at 2 p.m. by a presentation from the.amazing Zuzuki children's group. Admission to 5lhe Cape May County Park is free, and there is no charge for the ample—on site—parking. Bring a picnic lunch ^or dinner. Jhere are grilles available well as tables; or your can purchase sandwiches and shacks in the Park. Concert goers are reminded that no chairs or other seating are provided.
