will return to its former Cape May campus later
this year.
The college, backed by Cape May fundamentalist minister the Rev. Carl Mclntii^e, moved from Us Cape May campus adjacent to the Christian Admiral to Cape Canaveral, Fla. in the early 1970s after a battle with the state over ac-
creditation.
The decision to return was made by the college because of "the constituency’s location and the desire of the college's board to come back where we began,” Keith Bashaw, college’ board of trustees member, said. The college will retain its Florida campus and run "a joint or tandem operation," Bashaw said. The decision to shift the college’s main emphasis back to Cape May is dependent on the New Jersey State Board of Higher Education at this point, Bashaw said. said.
Shelton's application is "not near that stage (to be acted upon) yet." Suarez
said.
Asked if he thought Shelton’s former woes with accreditation would pose an obstacle for relocation to Cape May, Bashaw said. "I would hope the state board of education would act on the school’s present merits." "I don’t think they will place any weight onhistorical importance." Bashaw added. "We will review them (Shelton) as objectively as any other institution," Suarez said.
