As the guiding light For I he progressive rock band King Crimson, Robert

Frtpp helped advance the popularity of fusion music After his group's demise. Fripp took a vacation from performing to further his guilat studies and to handle some production work for his friends Hut. his fans weren't.satisfied, and. after years of prod ding, he finally consented

to a solo album

No one would^have ever guessed his. first solo project, "Exposure" 1 Pblydor • would so deeply deal with the avant-garde This i;i not an album for

Fripp's loyal cult will cherish this, but most will only be confused It's virtually impossible to come up with something original in the field of heavy metal Fortunately. The Godz don't even bother trying "Nothing Is Sacred' i Casablanca» is crammed full of tough, mean tunes with plenty of pointless solos and painful screaming Yet. since this is what thi*y're striving for. who aren't aware of The Belfast Gypsies, they were the Irish group Them, minus Van Morrison, who'd left to find solo fame Nothing as potent as ' Gloria'' or "Here Comes The Night." but still there's some hard hitting music The Count is a Boston eccentric, who not only leads his own band, but also has his own record label. magazine, newsletter, and truck driving business. In France, he's an underground rock and roll hero, and it:* easy to understand why. as his band provides a raw. distorted sound, which superbly offsets his sweet, pop melodies The Count's voice owes a debt to Lou Reed, as far as phrasing goes, hut lifting a bit doesn't detract in the least.
