Railroad Club Openhouse

WILDWOOD - This summer season marks the tenth anniversary the Greater Wildwood Model Railroad Club, located at 135 West Burk Avenue, Wildwood, has had its layout on public display. With ^ie club’s world in minature, many sights and sounds are reminiscent to one’s own childhood or when trains and trolleys provided this country with a vast transportation network. The open house is

held each Tuesday evening now until September 4.

CAPE MAY - Toll Realtors regaining their early season prowess blitzed to four straight victories to begin a charge for one of the play-off berths. The realtors foreclosed on Burke’s 13-2, the Coast Guard Bears 24-8 and the Rock N Chair 15-2. Mayer’s Kona and Gloria’s also continued to shine as Rick's of Rio Grande fell on some hard times losing*to Gloria’s 7-5 and Kona Sports 7-4. Mayers started their recent hot streak, unbelievably with an 11-9 setback to Burke’s. Since then they've swept by Bayshore Lounge 8-3, the Flim Flam 14-3, P&K Associates 8-4, the Coast Guard Bears 22-8 and Bayshore again, 18-16. Mayer’s big guns were Mark Turkaley with’ 2 home runs’ against Bayshore, Bugs Babore, Glen Pennycook, Mike Stambach and Joe Rich. Burke’s stunned another highly touted team in Laws Printing as George Wunder crushed a dramatic lastinning grand slam for the winners. - Laws’, how ever chalked up victories against Captain Sig’s Seafood 15-12 as Mario Franco and Bill Cook rapped 3 hits a piece, P& K Associates twice 15-4 and 12-6, Flim Flam 18-5. Gloria’s Saloon continued to be a dominant force defeating Burke’s 205, Rick's of Rio Grande 7*5 and Kona Sports 11-2 to up their record to 12-0. Rick’s of Rio Grande bounced back to shock Coast Guard Electronics 16-8. Don Rhinesmith rocketed a pair home runs, Donny Rhinesmith went 2 for 2 and Mike McLaughlin,

Terry Brown and Jack Jenkins had a pair of hits. Kona Sports nipped the Coast Guard Bears 11-10, thumped Everlon Fabrics 23-1 and whipped Burke's 18-2 before suffering only their sedbnd setback to Gloria’s. The Film Flam Candle Shop notched victory number one by lighting Everlon Fabrics lfr6. Everlon regrouped to short-circuit Coast Guard Electronics 7-5. Coast Guard Electronics drowned Bayshore Lounge 15-5 with tight defense. Captain Sig's Seafood deepfried the Flim Flam 12-8 in a well played game. P&K Associates doused the Flim Flam candles 6-4 in a real squeeker. The Coast Guard Bears likewise downed the Flim Flam 9-3. The Flim Flam Is in their initial season and seem to be improving with each outing. Chicken Barbecue STONE HARBOR - Stone Harbor Rescue Squad will hold its third annual chicken barbecue July 15 at the 80th St. ballfield from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets are^4.50 per person and m^y be purchased from any squad member or at the ball field.
