The thermometer reaches 90* and above. The humidity makes it all feel like a steambath. By late afternoon, air conditioners, fans and dehumidifiers are straining to cool everybody off. Other major appliances still demand thousands of kilowatts of electricity to keep them going. And that's all happening at the same time. Th« En«rsy Rush HGurs ar« CDMingf Summer is our pe^jt season for use of electricity. On the hottest weekdays, our customers demand more electricity during the Energy Rush Hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. than they do at any other time of year. Under extreme conditions, all of this can cause brownouts and even blackouts. But even under ordinary circumstances, demands during the Energy Rush Hours can force us to in> stall more facilities to meet your future electric needs. And that means higher electric rates in future years.
