Flag Exhibit

CAPE MAY - An exciting exhibit of international and American flags and memorabilia will be shown at the Lafeyette Community Center Saturday evening, July 28 at 7p.m. ‘This display delights both adults and children alike.*' says Allen Finger, President of the American Flay Institute. “We have flags from the Colonial Wars, the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. There are uniforms and plaques with armor from the start of our country. All will be displayed in an historical context which will both educate and excite." The Flag Exhibit will be part of Finger's talk on patriotism and restoration. This is the third talk in the Greater Cape May Historical Societies lecture series. CAPE MAY: REBIRTH OF A NATIONAL LANDMARK AREA. A direct descendant of Francis Scott Key.author of The Star Spangled Banner, Allen Finger has for the alst several years

spent his entire time organizing and directing the American Flag Institute. "The Institute is really a family affair," says Finer. "My wife, Marsha, and two daughters work just as hard as I do to make the Institute a success." "We would like to establish a permanent home here, because we feel that of all the communities in America, Cape may most closely parallels the needs and desires of the American Flag Institute. Cape May has the history, the environment, the warmth, the concern and most importantly the people, with which we would like to grow and become part." Tickets for the American Flag Institute lecture and exhibit are $2.75. All proceeds are for the restoration program of the "Colonial House" project, next to City Hall. Tickets can be obtained at the door of the Lafeyette Communtih Center, before the lecture; at the "Colonial House" or by calling Mr. James Middleton at 8843255.
