‘Great Gatsby’ At Towers
CAPE MAY - "The Great Gatsby" starring Alan Ladd, Shelley Winters. MacDonald Carey. Betty Field and Barry Sullivan will be shown Tuesday. August 14, at8:15 p.m. in Victorian Towers auditorium. This film has long been unavailable and can only now be shown
again.
F. Scott Fitzgerald created a great american ’novel in 1925 With the publication of "Tf»e Great Gatsby". This tragic and romantic tale of the
roaring twenties has been translated to the screen several times, but the 1949 version is generally considered as the most successful version of this bittersweet tale. Alan Ladd is suprisingly fine as the poor boy in love with a rich girl and an impossible dream. Shelley Winters became a new star after she portrayed the common and appealing Myrtle who was destroyed by the confused values of the jazz age.
