THE LOBSTER HOUSE FISH MARKET SEAFOOD Fresh From Our Boats Daily

This last weekend started off big, and got bigger and better as each day passed. On Friday Capt. Dave Roseman, on the Top Drawer II got 62 .big blues right off the beach front; only a little farther out than the fellows who are going flounder fishing. These flounder fishermen outside, of the Cold Spring jetties aVe also scoring heavily. Ronnie Tompkins, of the Villas; on his boat the •‘Ron-Eir got 40 flounder there fishing with John Fisher, of North Cape May. Jack Osborne called to tell me that on his boat the •‘Red Beard" Jim Watson, of Court House, caught his very first white marlin, a 42 pound beauty—then on Monday Leonard Verity was out on his boat the "Linda Ruth" on an overnighter, and got 3 for 14 on white marlin in Baltimore canyon. Leonard said that he was covered up twice with whites on every bait, but a lot jumped off, and finally he and his wife Ruth landed one each; and then Billy, their mate landed one. Leonard went out again the next day with Jim Wallace, and they raised one white marlin, and caught that one; so their percentage was better, but the numbers were down. Len said that the fish seem to be moving north awfully fast towards Wilmington canyon, and that the water was 82 degrees out there. On Wednesday Steve Seggfem, of the South Jersey fishing and hunting center, was in and told me that the "Hot Tuna" had had a 200 to 22S pound blue on for quite awhile in Baltimore Canyon before it threw the hook. Steve also told me of a 550 pound Mako that Jim Lummis took on his long line. This big fellow had a 60 pound

swordfish in his stomach. Then Bill Yearicks, of the Villas, was in telling me of catching S3 weakies in the 2Vi to 3 pound class right off Sun Ray Beach road using justctam as bait. I didn't get much fishing done over this weekend, because my grandchildren arrived, and we divided our time between visiting the County park coo, and swimming in the ocean. My son Dr. Bill, did get the kids out crabbing, and they caught 62 blueclaws, which

I an still enjoying.

My productive work over the weekend came to an abrupt halt Saturday at 4 p.m. when I received notice’ that my old fishing buddy Wayne Fraley, of Wilmington, had passed away about one hour

teras trips will never be the same with Wayne gone.” He used to come over here and fish with us in between our trips to the outer banks, and we always had a good time whether we caught

fish or not.

The E.I. Dupont Co. deserves all the credit in the world too. While Wayne was sick they paid all his expenses, and even sent a lawyer around to provide him with a will so his family would be cared for. Wayne was with them 24 years, and they sure took good care of him. I had to put this in, because big companies are supposed to be cold and merciless, but E.I, Dupont DeNemours Co. has a heart, and they take care of their people. Well Wayne, old friend,

that Wayne was better off because he had cancer very bad, but it's hard to put all this together when you’ve spent 15 years fishing with a fellow like Wayne, and suddenly realize that the good times are over. Bill Ha lb tuner, of Villas, John Fisher, of North Cape May, and Andy Grace and I went over to Wayne's viewing in New Castle, Del. Wednesday, and the truth came through

hard and fast of our loss.

Wayne was physically smaller statured than any one of us, but his voice, and his descriptions outgrew us all. He had a heart as big as his body, and from the very start we all got along, and had some mighty good times together. He joined the Cape May Co.-Hatteras Anglers in the fall of-1967, and he was club champion on channel bass three different times in 12 years, and with a group of fishermen like the Cape May Co.-Hatteras Anglers you have to be very good to

merit this distinction.

Bill Halbruner summed it ail up on the way home when he siad, "Our Hat-
