RIO GRANDE - Joseph K Benkert, immediate Past District Governor of the International Association of Lion's Clubs, district 16-C. presented a check in the amount of SI.(too to Ruth Traber. President and Kathleen M. DAmico. Executive Director, of the Cape May County Unit. N.J Association For Retarded Citizenslo help support the unit's \wnrk for the retarded 1 District 16-C consists of 1.945 members in 61 clubs, from Cherry Hill South Five of the clubs arc located in Cape May County The Lions are well know n for their help to the blind, however, they have also been extremely generous to other types ol handicapped people, in eluding the mentally retarded The Association For Retarded Citizens is a voluntary, non-profit organization, whose purpose is to promote the general welfare of the mentally retarded of .all ages in the community and in institutions, and to help

prevent mental retardation in children yet unborn. Direct service programs include: an infant stimulation program, four w,eek summer day camp. ..Saturday recreation program, and a residential facility for boys The unit ’s social service department offers counselling, information and referral to the retarded and their families .
