COURT HOUSE - In the biggest upset of the season, the Court House Fire Co. beat the Kiwanis Club 14-4. Paul Hand held the Big Five of the Kiwanis Club scoreless for six innings until they broke out with 4 runs in the seventh to avert a shut-out. Some stars were missing from the line-ups of each team. The Fire Company lacked Joe Trombetta and Tom Poponak, while Big Don Rhinesmith, the big hitter for Kiwanis was sidelined with a sprained wrist. For the Fire Co. Dave may led the hitters with 4

Jack's Place Wins Title AVALON — Excitement and emotions ran high last. week as the Men’s Basketball League held its championship match. The,teams in the final games were Jack's Place and Bock Raiders. Jack's Place won the championship title by a score of 55 to 43. Btth teams were victorious in the recent playoffs which matched Jack’s Place against Barber’s Nursery (Score of -The game was 57-55), and Bocks Raiders against Leahy Realty (Scort^of that game was 62-56). Jay Gabauer was the high scorer of the game with 14 points, followed by Craig Soens with 12 pointe. Soens scored 31 points in the playoff games against Barber's. All teams played their games at the Avalon Community Hall and were under th€ supervision of the Avalon Recreation Department, Doug Macauley Summer Recreation Director.

Both teams were victorious in relent playoff games in the League. Jack’s Pla<fc won the recent championship match 55-43 over Bock’s Raiders. The League is sponsored by the Avalon Recreation Department and playoffs were held in Avalon Community Hall, 30th St. and Avalon Ave., where the other league games had been played.
