The turn-out for practice has been amazing. 40-50 candidates every night. And the spirit remains amazing. Coach Exley expects to have over 60 candidates for the team when school opens next week. Should be an interesting season. Observed at the Cops and Robbers Benefit Softball Game at the County Correctional Center for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Foundation were Sheriff and Mrs. Beech Fox, Warden Fisher, Lt. Perry, Freeholder ( Ralph Evans, the Middle Twp. Ambulance Squad with Dave May and Joe Trombetta on duty and the whole staff of the Sheriff’s Office, male and female, who gave up their Sunday fot a good sause.

AVALON TENNIS COURTS BACK IN ACTION — After a week's postponement due to weather damage to the local Tennis Courts, the Avalon Men's Doubles Tennis Tournament was held Saturday, August 18. The games had been scheduled the weekend of August 11 but were cancelled when wind ripped nets apart, tore down fences and destroyed other court equipment. Semi-finals will be held Saturday with Finals tentatively scheduled for Sunday morning AugOst 26.
