Davis Promoted
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur S. Davies were recently notified that their son, Arthur S. Davies, Jr. graduated from the U.S. Naval Electronics Technician School in the top 25 percent of his class, and was promoted to the rank of petty officer Third Class. He is presently stationed at the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, III., but will be transferred to Orlando, Florida, in September, where his training and rank in class have qualified him to enter the Naval Nuclear Power School located there. Arthur, a 1974 graduate of Wildwood Catholic High School, attended Stockton State College and Montgomery County Community College before entering the Navy in Sept. 1978.
Feeling Go BY ANNEM.9CH0EN
Well, the party is over. It's time to pack up our bags and callvan«nd to the summer of 'Tg.^Iopefully, it’s been a good summer for the residents of Cape May County. Looking back, Avalon summer resident. Linda Stytler states that one of the brignt spots of her summer was the ConCord Talent Show. Her friends had submitted her name to the MC and forced her to go on stage. Lucky for Linda, she used her bird call imitations to impress the audience. Another Avalon Resident, Mary Scanlon, tells how much she enjoyed the exercise classes at the Community Hall given by Betty Beatty over the summer. I'm sure Avalon’s younger generation will miss the artistic talents of Norma Reichenbach. Ms. Reichenbach held art classes in the Community
Hall. As many are sad to see Labor Day Weekend come which marks the close of summer, many are just as glad. Hodge Podge clerk, Jim Moran says that now he'll be able to find a seat in his favorite hangout, the Little Princeton. Lifeguarders at 28th Street in Avalon find relief in getting away from the ‘'28th Street Zoo." / It’s already apparent that summer will soon come to a close. Help Wanted signs are going up in the ice cream parlors,
restaurants, and other stores as their employees leave to get ready for school or permanent jobs. Another sign is the longer nights and shorter days. So, it’s goodbye to summer romances, sailing, crazy jobs, seagulls, sandy sheets, painful sunburn, WMID, frizzy hair, good times, and good friends. Have a good year.
