Catholic School Opening

CAPE MAY - Our Lady Star of the Sea IGE School in Cape may begins it eighth year of Individually Guided Education September 5 with opening assembly at 8:30 a.m. Parent Orientation for all families will be done through three meetings September 1,1-13. Parents will be more involved this year in the Becoming A Person Program as well as religious and study programs at home. Principal, Sister Mary Helen Beime, announced that the school has attained it highest enrollment (231) since the initiation of IGE and the school staff now numbers 13. The 1979-1980 school staff includes Sister June Weldon, Miss Nancy Beck, and Mrs. Marie Lathbury in the primary unit; Miss Susan Checchio, Mrs. Marie Gallagher, Miss Anne Vitacco, and Sister Agnes Amgela in the intermediate unit; Sister Karen Doyle, Miss Linda Conner, Sister Thaddeus, Sister Veronica Marie, Mrs. Nancy Hooyman, and Sister Mary Helen Beime in the upper unit -The IGE Program will continue to be supplemented by an extensive teacher aide program. Teacher aide inservice day %’ is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, September 6 in the school gym. All parent and community volunteers are requested to attend. School sessions for September 5,6 and 7 begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12; full day sessions start Monday, September 10. Students wear full uniform on the first day, September 5.
