Hurricane

Keep calm until the energency has ended. Leave low-lying areas that may be swept by high tides or storm waves. Moor you boat securely before the strom arrives, or evacuate it to a designated safe area. When your boat is moored, leave it, and don’t return once the wind and waves are up. Board up windows or protect them with storm shutters or tape. Danger to small windows is mainly from wind-driven debris. Larger windowns by be broken by wind pressure. Secure outdoor objects that might be blown away or uprooted. Garbage cans,

garden tools, toys, signs, porch furniture, and a number of other harmless items become missiles of destruction in hurricane winds Anchor them or store them inside before the strom strikes. Store drinking water in clean bathtubs, jugs, bottles, and cooking utensils; your town’s water supply may be contaminated by flooding or damaged by hurricane floods. Check your batterpowered equipment.

Bay Bridge

(From Page 1) miles of travel from Wildwood ot Washington and 20 miles traveling from Atlantic City, he said. Thomas points to the successful operation of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and the Annapolis Bay Bridge in Maryland, similar structure to the proposed Delaware Bay Bridge. They are not crying indebedness. They are able to pay their mortgages and bonds," Thomas claims. "This would be the same with the Delaware River Bay Bridge.’’ he added. The Authority, however, cites decreasing traffic on both the Cape M$y-Lewes ferry and the Delaware Memorial Bridge in recently monthly reports. Traffic on the Delaware Memorial Bridge decreased 1.76 percent for the twelve month period ending July 31, 1979. Revenue for the period

increased 0.2 percent. Traffic on the ferry for the same 12 month period though showing monthly decreased throughout the summer, has showed a vehicle increase of aobut eight percent and a passenger increase of 2.6 percent fot the same 12month period In addition, a contract was recently completed for the purchase of a fourth ferry at a cost of $10,754,000. "The hardnose line that the DRBA (Authority) has taken from the first day is that they are not going to build a bridge and have no intentions of building a bridge and are only going through the motions to deceive the public," Thomas charged. Authority officials could not be reached for comment on the bay bridge plan.
