WILDWOOD CREST - The Cape May County Homemaker-Home Health Aide Service wiir hold a 20th Anniversary Dinner at Enrico's Restaurant Wildwood Crest. Sept. 26. The,guest speaker will be Dr. Nancy Robinson. Director of Approval & Creditation Program. National council. Homem'ake-hOme Health Aide Service. In 1952 the State Legislature passed the Chronic Illness Act. mandating that all persons with chronic illness have health support services available to them in thejr home Governor Driscoll appointed the New Jersey State Medical Auxiliary to develop methods of home services^ Theft plart was tp organizV^'Homcmak^r Agencies in each county to offer help to those deeding services, td enable .the family to remain in a family unit. In 1958 the Medical Auxiliary of Cape May County was contacted and asked to organize and develop a similar service Mrs Nancy Stewart and Mrs. Marjorie Stineman worked on this project and asked the Soroptimisl International of -Sduthern Cape May Cdunty to help with this greatly, needed service. Miss Dorothy Rice, nurse for Cape May County was very interested and worked with the agency, referring clients, determining care that was needed, in general provided the professional supervision of care. The agency was housed in a corner of the Emporium Un Cape May and in the homes of the Directors until 1965 when an office was rented on Washington Street in Cape May. In 1966 the agency moved to a small office in Crest Haven and when Medicare started in July of that year the agency started to grow rapidly. Several moves were made in Cape May Court House until January 1976 the Board of ' chosen Freeholders provided ■office space in the n£w Social Service Building. At present the agency ha’s 90 certified Aides S ding care in every cipalitf inCape Court ty. The'Ger? recent move to serve Ocean City has. unified Home Health Aide care in the epunty, strengthening the agency. Growth will enhance service to the entire county. ; Volunteers *

AVALON — The Avalon Rescue Squad is completing it's first year of operation witfta record of solid achievement During the past year it has responded to more than 150 emergency calls. Because of the generous financial support of the residents of the Boro and the cooperation of the Police Dept, it now has efficient transport and communications equipment and adequate medical supplies. However, due to loss of mam^summer personnel, theJBperating staff is scrjbsly undermanned. Volunteers are urgently needld for the coming winter months. The Rescue Squad appeals to all persons living in Avalon and interested in emergency first aid, to help in the vital community service. Our next regular meeting will be held Wed., Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Avalon Room of the Boro Hall. Now Open
