Oktoberfest (From Page i) marionette show has been planned especially for the The Oktoberfest has been the subject- of a far-flung publicity campaign with spot commercials on Philadelphia’s KYW Today Show, 13 billboards stretching from New York to Philadelphia, advertisements in 18 newspapers from Washington, D.C. to New York City and printed on 300,000 placemats used at Wildwood restaurants all summer. Entrance fee to the Oktoberfest is $4 for adults, $1 for children. The entrance fee admits a person to the festival for the entire day. Food, drink and costs of items sold at booths are separate. Lambert, who says he is of German extraction, wants the Oktoberfest to provide a dual purpose: to get area year-round residents involved in a community activity and to draw the tourist trade back to the shore for a few weeks longer than usual. The Oktoberfest will be a regular annual event running for 10 days next year. "This could be a success in itself if even just the people of Cape May, Wildwood, Stone Harbor and other nearby towns attend," Lambert said. "Natives have a tendency after the season to wash their hands of it and takeoff." But, the shore is changing and with it the season. It used to be that you

He liked the area so much that when his tenure on the job was up and it was time to return to Philadelphia he decided to stay behind in Ocean City. "It’s the atmosphere - the clean air, clean towns, the friendliness," Bittner said.
