RECRUIT REVIVES FALLEN FRIEND. Only one week after learning cardiopulmonary r^cuseitati^n in his First Aid class, taught by First-Class Hospital Corpsman Phelps, Seaman Recruit Robert Forrest had the opportunity to put his training to work. Seaman Recruit Forrest was bn liberty at the time of the accident whimh occurred in Wildwood. As Forrest was tailing to his friend Joe Moran, Joe leaned againsra railing which gave way causing him to plunge to the ground, landing on his neck. Joe Moran is presently in a Philadelphia hospital with a broken back, a strained neck muscle and a concussion. S.R. Forrest is now a Seaman Apprentice, having graduated from boot Camp Sept. 14 with. MUA Asks Public

Input At VsWAINTON - The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority has invited* the public to an informational seminar on the draft copy of the district's Solid Waste Management Plan, which has been prepared in cooperation with the County Planning Board, Health Department and the Solid Waste Advisory Council. It will be held on Tuesday, October 2, at 1:30 p.m. at the Old Courthouse Building, Main Street. Cape May Court House. “Our whole purpose is to encourage public participation," said Ken Holmstrup, ' MUA Administrator for the project, "We invite industry. environmental, business and academic organizations as well as the general public to hear a presentation on the plan as it is drafted. We encourage questions and comments. This is not a public hearing but rather a time to inform and receive input. A formal hearing is required later in the process. " The Solid Waste Management Plan has been drafted by Pandullo Quirk Associates in cooperation with all the public agencies involved. It

Seminar Is required by New Jersey and federal law and must include a lean year plan designed to meet the solid waste management needs of every municipality in the district. The district includes all of Cape May County. The plan must be approved by the Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders before it is submitted to the Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection Ibr review byin teres ted^tate agencies. The Newnn-sey DEP will also hold adDublic hearing. John 'Tinci, MUA Chairman, said, “We are urging the news media to publicize the seminar for October 2 encouraging people to attend. Arrangement has been made to have copies of the plan on file at the public libraries in Avalon, Cape May Point, Cape May Court House, Ocean City, Wildwood and at the Municipal Building in Woodbine." COURT HOUSE - Registrations are being accepted for persons wishing to take collegecredit courses as part-time students offered through Atlantic Community College’s Weekend College at the U.S. Coast Guard station in Cape May. Registrations will be aedfepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at ACC’s Cape May Extension, 115 S. Main St., Cape May Court House. Principles of Sociology will begin Wednesday, Oct. 10. The course will be taught by. regular ACC faculty. The Week-end College is designed to provide students an opportunity to earn college credit toward an asiTociate degree without the inconvenience of attending classes on the Mays Landing campus or at other ACC Extensions.
